Procedures: Lip Augmentation
Juvederm Lip Augmentation
The lips have a number of components that must be balanced during augmentation, including the philtrum, cupid’s bow, vermillion border (“lip liner”), and substance of the lip (“lipstick”). I like to use Juvederm Ultra for injection lip augmentation. Juvederm Ultra is fluid enough to produce results that are soft and natural, and thick enough to make a difference. Some swelling after the procedure is expected. This swelling is at its height 2-3 days after injection. I advise patients that the absolute final result will be apparent between 10 days to 2 weeks after injection. Rarely, bruising may occur after lip injection. Bruising and swelling can be minimized with use of the homeopathic medication, Arnica Montana. Arnica can be started 2 days prior to injection, and continued until bruising and swelling resolves. Results of Juvederm lip augmentation generally last 5-6 months, and the key to natural lip augmentation is recognizing and optimizing your natural lip shape.
