ProFractional is a deeper laser resurfacing procedure than the MicroLaserPeel. It’s a quick, substantial, laser procedure used for improving the overall appearance of your skin and tightening the skin. The procedure is performed in our Upper East Side office, and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. MicroLaserPeels can be used to treat:
ProFractional uses a tiny laser beam to create thousands of pinpoint injuries to your skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. The skin’s wound healing response creates new collagen that adds firmness and resilience to the skin, and rejuvenates the skin.
Excellent results can be obtained with just one treatment, however the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient.
Your skin will be cleaned and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. Dr. Liotta will position the laser above your skin, and will perform the peel. When the laser is being used, you will hear a rapid succession of snapping sounds. The procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Topical numbing cream, or local anesthetic is often used during the procedure.
This treatment is deeper than the MicroLaserPeel. After this treatment, some skin redness and a sensation like a sunburn is expected. You may also have some swelling of the skin. Most patients fell comfortable enough to return to work 6-7 days after treatment. You must use sunblock on your face after treatment. As your skin heals, you may begin to notice a general tightening effect in the first few days after treatment. However, the full benefit of ProFractional is the collagen remodeling that occurs during the 4-6 months following your treatment.
